a. Join OCA for a community meeting, June 16

All are welcome!  Join OCA for presentations on community issues and action and share your ideas! Attend in person at the Overbrook Community Centre or join on Zoom

b. Audition for Overbrook’s Got Talent!

Do you love to sing or dance, play an instrument, or do stand-up comedy?

 If so, come share your talents as part of the Overbrook 100 celebrations on Saturday, August 6. 

We are looking for a wide variety of performances to entertain the community.

We are excited to meet you. Come audition and share your talent with us!

When: July 18 & 19 2022

Where: Overbrook Community Centre (33 Quill St)

Time: 6h00pm to 8h00pm

Saturday, August 6 is the big day to gather at Overbrook Park (behind the Overbrook Community Centre at 33 Quill St) for day long Overbrook 100 celebrations - a Treasure Hunt, poster contest prizes and much more followed by a picnic and the Overbrook’s Got Talent Show! Watch for signs around the neighbourhood, follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter for more details. Would you like to help out? Email info@overbrook.ca

Don’t forget to create your poster and submit it by July 9. Prizes for the winning posters will be announced and given out on August 6th at Overbrook Day. All posters will be on display at the Community Centre.


2. Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Project (YESS Project) 


3. Overbrook & Castle Heights Community Sustainability Plan

Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City and the Overbrook Community Association held a virtual meeting to develop a community sustainability plan on January 15 this year. Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City has completed the report, which is LIVING document and an agenda for action individually and collectively. Workshop participants identified issues important to the community and associated actions that have been captured under five themes: Energy and Transportation; Climate Change and Conservation; Waste Management; Design and Sense of Place; and Food Security and Urban Agriculture. 4. Chief Pinesi Day, July 1

Chief Pinesi Day will be held on July 1, 2022, in New Edinburgh and Rockcliffe Park to celebrate the Algonquin Anishinaabe history of the area. The Day will honour Chief Pinesi and his portage route between the Rideau and Ottawa Rivers and will include ceremonies, tours, drumming and dancing. 5. City of Ottawa News

a. Ottawa Stadium Community Visioning 

The City is conducting a community visioning process for the Ottawa Stadium (RCGT Park) and residents are invited to attend an online Community Comment and Information Session on June 28th at 6 p.m. to share your short, medium and long-term vision of the stadium and its surroundings. You can register here

The goal of the visioning process is to provide Council a recommendation report for the stadium and its surrounding areas, identifying what will create a more livable, inviting, and dynamic environment for people and families, while enhancing mobility, city life, and financial sustainability.

b. St. Laurent Boulevard Transit Priority Corridor Environmental Assessment Study 

The City of Ottawa has initiated the St. Laurent Boulevard Transit Priority Corridor Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for St. Laurent Boulevard from Hemlock Road to Innes Road/Industrial Avenue. A public consultation event for this study will be held through Zoom on Wednesday June 22, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The consultation will include a presentation and an opportunity to ask questions to the study team. Click here for more information and to register.

c. City job opportunities
