Why volunteer?
OCA is a volunteer group. The more volunteers we have, the more we can do! All are welcome and your time commitment and level of involvement are up to you. From joining the Board or a Committee to helping with one-time or occasional activities, there are many opportunities.
We are currently looking for the following volunteers:
Overbrook Park skating rink:
The Overbrook Community Association is pleased to share that the OCA will be taking the lead this season to prepare and maintain our community outdoor rink (Trinity Rink) at Overbrook Park.
The OCA will be looking for volunteers to help out with the rink upkeep, so if you’re looking for a way to be involved in your community and get some exercise this winter please reach out to derek@overbrook.ca to get involved!
Youth Volunteer Hours:
Are you a young person looking for ways to get involved in your community, all while gaining community volunteer hours?
The OCA is looking for volunteers for ongoing community cleanup, this can happen on your schedule and at your speed, all you need to do is connect with our volunteer coordinator Mélanie!

Communications team:
Help share neighbourhood news on social platforms and the website! We also need a person to maintain the website. For more information and to volunteer, please contact media@overbrook.ca.
Research projects support:
From time to time the Board needs help with research and admin tasks. Currently, for example, there is a need to explore insurance options. For more information, contact info@overbrook.ca
More generally, volunteers help with:
Regular events like Family Day, Community Day and park clean-ups to bring residents together (when we’re not physical distancing)
Reporting neighbourhood news through social media
Community projects to improve Overbrook’s physical, social and cultural environment, e.g. fruit tree planting, backpacks for Overbrook youth, Rideau winter trail
Advocacy with governments on issues of importance from residential development to services to crime prevention
Collaboration with local organizations and neighbouring community associations on common issues, e.g., poverty reduction, family homelessness and crime prevention
