The YES Project:

Launched in 2021, the Y.E.S project is allowing Overbrook youth to use the creative power of the arts to  explore the meaning of diversity and inclusiveness and help increase community awareness about the impact of discrimination and hate motived crimes. The project also offers a platform for youth in Overbrook, a diverse community in the Ottawa east end, to connect directly with the arts community, local government and community organizations.

Test Drive Tuesday

Ever wondered what it’s like to drive an electric vehicle? Thanks to Envirocentre and the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa, now’s your chance! On August 23, from 5:30 to 8:30pm, come by the Overbrook Community Centre to ride along in an EV or try driving one for yourself!

This event is a great opportunity to talk to experienced and knowledgeable EV enthusiasts and to ask them all your questions. And of course, you will be able to experience what it is like to ride or drive in an electric vehicle firsthand.

To learn more about how the test drives/rides work visit the EV Test Drive FAQ section of the EVexperience.ca website. You can book your test drive/ride in advance at the same link once they become available. Any questions can be sent to transport@envirocentre.ca.

Benefits of Driving an EV

There are many benefits of choosing an electric vehicle over a gas powered one, including:

  • Better for the environment as you are not burning fossil fuels

  • Cleaner air – no emissions mean no air pollution!

  • Less maintenance (and fewer maintenance costs)

  • Cheaper running costs

  • No need to fill up your tank
