General Fundraising

The Overbrook Community Association aims to bring residents of Overbrook and Castle Heights together to make life better for everyone in the community. Led and powered entirely by committed volunteers, OCA works on an array of initiatives with residents and partners to address the needs and promote the interests of residents and the community as a whole.

OCA works with a small budget from donations, fundraising events, and grants from the City and other funders. We always welcome general donations to help us with operating costs and programming to engage youth, support community food security, make the community greener and more walkable and much more.

General donations help enable our activities including current key initiatives:

Community Planning

In addition to regular responses to residential development applications, the Committee has recently provided input on Ottawa’s new Official Plan and the R4 zoning review. It was involved in the creation of Lola Park playground and plans to enhance the “Four Corners” (intersection of Lola and Queen Mary)

Communications

Our social media, website and quarterly newspaper help connect and inform residents, building our sense of community; they have been particularly important for outreach and to provide reliable information on community and government resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Overbrook 100

A group of volunteers is planning summer celebrations for Overbrook’s centenary!

More information on our activities can be found under Initiatives and in our Annual Reports (2021 report and AGM presentations2020 report2019 report2018 report).
