1. Free outdoor Bélé dance workshop this Saturday!
Learn Bélé dance movements with Teacher Suzan (Suzan Richards), owner of The Cultural Arts Studio and then integrate them into a short choreography. No past dance experience or skill required - all are welcome!
The Bélé dance originates from the Yoruba women of Nigeria and represents the Creole folk culture to the Caribbean islands. As we reconnect with our neighbours after a long time apart, how might the Bélé movements and call and response music invite us to come together and be with one another in new and different ways? Register here.

The proposed revisions are being published on the City’s Engage Ottawa webpage for public review as they become available. It is anticipated that the final revised draft of the proposed new Official Plan will be published on the Engage Ottawa webpage later this month.
In order to provide additional time for public review, the dates for consideration of the comprehensive final draft of the new Official Plan have been delayed and are now:
Wednesday, September 29th - Public Open House
Thursday, October 14th - Joint statutory meeting of the Planning Committee and Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee
Wednesday, October 27th - City Council consideration of the report on the final draft of new Official Plan
5. Taking action on the environment
Community Associations for Environmental Sustainability, or CAFES, has been connecting residents and community groups who are working to make our city a greener place for the past ten years. Are you interested in forming an OCA Environmental Committee to work with CAFES and in our neighbourhood on issues like climate action, water, waste management, sustainable urban development and more? Please let us know at info@overbrook.ca.
