During consultations on the draft plans to add cycling lanes onto McArthur Avenue, residents expressed a desire to see dedicated cycling facilities added to Donald Street as well.
While Donald was designated as a cycling route in the City’s Transportation Master Plan, no sources of City funds for dedicated cycling infrastructure were identified. However, in light of the fact that Donald between North River Road and the Vanier Parkway is scheduled for repaving this year, there will be an opportunity to consider repainting the lines to allocate space on the roadway for cycling lanes.
City staff has come forward with a proposal that replaces the parking on this section of Donald with bike lanes and the City is interested in obtaining residents’ feedback.
