COMMUNITY GARDENS & BACK LANES: Subjects for discussion at 18 April OCA meeting

OCA Association Meeting

6:30 pm

Thursday, 18 April 2013

Overbrook Community Centre

Due to the double agenda, please note that the meeting will start at 6:30 pm — a half hour earlier than usual!

Come and hear the wonderful plans for Overbrook Community Gardens. Sue Bramley, the City of Ottawa’s co-ordinator for community gardens, will be there to answer questions. This project, spearheaded by Sheila Perry, and undertaken by the OCA’s Environment, Parks & Heritage Committee, is a long term commitment to Overbrook and will add to the health and wellbeing of residents. Come and lend your support!

Those residents backing on City laneways are also urged to attend the meeting. Councillor Peter Clark will be present to address the issues raised by the Planning Department’s recent “Encroachment Policies for Urban Lanes” and “Urban Lanes Management Policy,” both of which will be presented to City Council on 24 April. The OCA has sent a letter to the Planning Committee Chair, Peter Hume, with copies to the mayor and all city councillors, requesting that the matter be deferred to allow public and community consultation.
