OCA Board Announces Executive & 2013 Meeting Dates

At a board meeting on Thursday, 29 November, the Overbrook Community Association chose its executive and restructured its committees to reflect the work planned for 2013. Taking the helm again as President is Sheila Perry, with Susan Giles as Vice President. Wendy Dennys will take over the tasks of Secretary and new board member Patrick Venier will take the Treasurer’s position.

Six standing committees were re-affirmed (Communications& Membership; Environment, Parks & Heritage; Finance & Fundraising; Getting Around Safely; Planning & Development; and Special Events). One new standing committee was formed, the AGM Planning Committee. In order to strengthen our partnership with the Overbrook Community Development Framework, three board members were assigned liaison duties to this steering committee.

OCA meeting dates for 2013 were decided, alternating between Board meetings (focussing on business matters) and Association meetings (featuring speakers, presentations, focus groups, or community engagement activities). All meeting will be open to the public with the exception of a December 2013 Board meeting which will be in camera. In 2013 Board meetings will be held on 17 January, 21 March, 16 May, 18 July, and 17 October, while Association meetings will take place on 21 February, 18 April, 20 June, and 19 September. All meetings are held at the Overbrook Community Centre, 33 Quill, and start at 7 pm. The 2013 AGM is scheduled for 21 November at 6:30 pm.

The 2013 deadlines for submissions to the Nouvelles d’Overbrook News are 28 January (for March delivery), 29 April (for June delivery), and 29 July (for September delivery).
