On Thursday, 24 May, the Board of Directors of the OCA decided to reconfigure the format of its meetings. For the past while, meeting agendas have featured presentations of vital importance to Overbrook (topics such as LRT, and the Orleans Watermain Link) followed by Board business. Attendance has increased and appreciation has been expressed for the chance to get detailed information on topical issues and developments affecting our community.
In order to build on the success of issue-based OCA meetings and in order to ensure Board business gets dealt with, meetings will now alternate between Board meetings and Association meetings. Board meetings will feature internal business and information sharing, while Association meetings will have invited guests to present on topics of community interest.
Everyone is welcome to attend Board and/or Association meetings. We would like to remind residents that everyone is considered a member of the OCA. The only requirement is to register your name and co-ordinates, either on the website or at a meeting.
It is hoped that the result of this decision will be shorter agendas and more resident involvement. It also moves the OCA toward our goal of incorporation which will require us to hold six Board meetings per year.
The schedule of OCA meetings remains unchanged – every third Thursday of the month (except December). Agendas will be posted one week in advance of meetings indicating whether it is a Board or Association meeting.
